Mark Moriarty Is Named 'Chef of the Year'

21-year-old Mark Moriarty was awarded 'Euro-toques Young Chef of the Year 2013' yesterday at the "Carnival of Memories" event in the Garage Café at Google's EMEA Headquarters.

The "Carnival of Memories" was a five-course tasting dinner based on their childhood foods.

Elena Arzak, World's Best Female Chef 2012 and joint head chef at three Michelin star restaurant Arzak, was on hand to award Mark the title which includes a stage at ALMA, the International School of Italian cuisine in Colorno Italy, headed by world renowned chef Gualtiero Marchesi, amongst other exciting opportunities.

Mark is from Blackrock, Dublin and works as a a Chef de Partie in the Green House Restaurant on Dawson Street.

Other contestants were Brian O'Flaherty, commis chef, Restaurant Forty One; Kevin Burke, chef de partie, Restaurant Patrick Guilbauld; Grainne O'Keeffe, junior sous chef, Pichet; Paula Leavy, chef de partie, Locks Brasserie.
