Anner Hotel In Thurles Sold

Receivers have agreed the sale of the Anner Hotel, Thurles, after a competitive tendering process. The new owners are a well-known Thurles and Cashel family – brothers Michael, PJ and Seamus Maher signed contracts last week.

The property was guided on the market at €1.1m on the 16th January and sold by tender on the 14th February by tender for an undisclosed price. The selling agent Denis O’Donoghue from Savills did not disclose the purchase price but said that there was a very strong level of interest both locally and nationally for the property. The Anner is an iconic hotel in Thurles and was established approximately 50 years ago. The Hotel features 95 spacious bedrooms, a bar, restaurant, private dining room, air conditioned conference and banqueting facilities and a leisure centre. It has a modern business centre with 7 conference rooms and the main function room has capacity for over 250 guests (banqueting style). The leisure centre opened in 1998 and has an 18 metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna as well as a modern gym. PJ Maher on behalf of the new owners confirmed the sale and said that he and his brothers Michael & Seamus are delighted to have purchased the Anner Hotel, which should secure the 60 existing jobs. There are already plans to refurbish the property.
