Bunratty Castle Hotel Gets 4-Star Rating After Redevelopment

After undergoing a €1 million redevelopment, Bunratty Castle Hotel in Clare has achieved 4-star status from Fáilte Ireland.

The hotel, which is part of the Blarney Group, has 144 bedrooms, a spa and leisure club, and currently employs over 150 people, reports TheClareHerald.com.

The redevelopment started back in 2014 when the hotels function room was completely refurbished, which can now cater for up to 250 people, as well as being able to host weddings. Other changes as part of the investment saw the hotels exterior undergoing a complete colour change and the hotel lobby being redesigned.

Commenting on the hotels new 4-star status, Bunratty Castle Hotel proprietor Freda Hayes said: "The addition of the 4 star rating to the hotel is a great achievement for the entire team. Having bought the hotel in 1996, after developing Bunratty Woollen Mills in the early 90’s, the goal was to create a destination within Bunratty Village for visitors to spend time and enjoy the surroundings. Bunratty village has a great heritage, an old world charm, many restaurants and the oldest Pub in Ireland, Durty Nelly's."
