Clare Hotel Wins Green Award

Hotel Doolin in Co. Clare has been recognised for its sustainability efforts as it collected the Green Tourism and Entertainment Award.

The 2015 Green Awards were held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin and the hotel was given the nod ahead of some stiff competition, in what was one of the main categories in the ceremony.

The hotel consolidated its name as one of Ireland's leading 'green' hotels, after already receiving the Platinum Green Hospitality Award and ‘Best Small Hotel for Responsible Tourism Award’ gongs in the last year, as reported in the Clare Herald.

Through its 'Green Team', led by Raquel Naboa (pictured right) the hotel has developed what it describes as "ground-up approach to promoting sustainable business practices.”

Hotel Doolin General Manager Donal Minihane said the business changed course after being a hotel "destined for mediocrity" years ago.

“Everything we now do relates to our mission statement – from the innovative wedding packages to the food we grow in our gardens, to the festivals we run and even our resident ducks and hens.”
