Donegal TD Seeks Hotelier's Input

Donegal North East TD, Pádraig MacLochlainn, has written to the managers and owners of all hotels in the region seeking their views on the development of tourism in the county, it's reported.

The Derry Journal reports that MacLochlainn (pictured) is looking to establish what difficulties or challenges their business is facing.

The move by the the Inishowen Sinn Féin Deputy comes following news that two more hotels in the county are facing closure or receivership.

Deputy MacLochlainn said, "Our hotels across this county are vital to our local economies and to our tourism offering.

"Therefore the loss of any hotel is a real blow. I am inviting the managers and owners of hotels in my constituency to outline to me the needs of their hotel business and their observations on tourism in this county.”

He added particular questions he has relate to their thoughts on the 'Wild Atlantic Way' initiative from Failte Ireland, among others, stating that the responses will inform a detailed submission which will be forwarded to Fáilte Ireland, Donegal County Council and the Minister for Tourism.
