Dublin's Marker Hotel On-Trend With 'Cronuts'

Dublin's newest five-star hotel, the Marker, has shown that it is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to food trends. The new hotel, located in Grand Canal Dock, is one of the first - if not the first - Irish establishment to sell the now infamous 'Cronut', a croissant-donut hybrid which has been in much demand in its native US since they burst onto the market in May, making them the big word-of-mouth bakery trend of 2013.

peaking about the cronut craze, the Marker Hotel's executive chef Gareth Mullins said, “Myself and our pastry chef Rey Hortillosa set about mastering the recipe where there was a lot of trial and error as they are fragile to prepare."

"Once we perfected the process we introduced the cronut at our launch party in June and received an overwhelming positive reaction from guests. Since then we have been inundated with requests so we are delighted to be able to sell them now. There will only be a limited amount of boxes so I would advise people to get in early as when they are gone they are gone!”
