Former Dublin Seminary To Be Developed Into New Hotel

Joe and Margaret Scally of Cork's Hayfield Manor Hotel have just completed the purchase of the former St. Mary's Carmelite seminary in the Dublin suburb of Donnybrook with an eye to develop their first Dublin hotel on the site.

According to The Irish Times, the premises was acquired for close to €16 million and includes 3.09 acres of gardens and woodlands. It is expected that the proposed hotel will be built along classical lines and that the Scally family will incorporate the Carmelite seminary and chapel into the development.

A spokesperson for the Scallys' company said, "St Mary’s is a historical site and the family is very cognisant that the buildings are classified as protective structures."
