The Anner Hotel in Thurles has been sold by owners PJ, Michael and Seamus Maher to a new investor introduced by Savills Estate Agents.

According to the Tipperary Star, while the price and terms have not been revealed, the sale of the 95-bedroom, four-star venue has been agreed with Davy Real Estate on behalf of Strategic Capital Investment Fund plc, which is owned by Austrian investor Thomas Roeggla.

Commenting on the sale, PJ Maher, said: "We feel we have done our work here and have brought [the hotel] to a very strong position and are pleased to hand it over to such a prestigious group of Irish hotels which will ensure that its future is secure."

The Anner is the eighth Irish hotel to date to be acquired by Strategic Capital Investment Fund. Other venues currently run by the company include Aghadoe Heights in Killarney, Mount Wolseley in Carlow and the Metro at Dublin Aiport.
