General Manager Appointed For Belmond Grand Hibernian

The company behind the luxury Belmond Grand Hibernian train has made its first major appointment by hiring  JP Kavanagh has general manager of the new rail venture.

Belmont Grand Hibernian, which is set to launch later in the year, will provide overnight rail experiences throughout Ireland.

Kavanagh (pictured) started his hospitality career at The Connaught, London and has built up 23 years of experience in luxury hotels in UK and Ireland. He will join Belmond from the Doyle Collection's Kensington Hotel in London.

Kavanagh said: "It is great to be back in Ireland and I am hugely excited to be joining Belmond for the launch of the Belmond Grand Hibernian".

Belmond Grand Hibernian will be the first luxury rail experience of its kind in Ireland when it launches in August 2016. It will leave Dublin on two, four and six night touring itineraries.

It will accommodate 40 guests in 20 en-suite cabins. The journeys will also include daily excursions and activities to ancient castles and monuments and tours of the famous whiskey distilleries.
