Heritage Golf Resort in the heart of Killanard, Co Loais had gone on sale for over €2 million. The price was reduce after the owners ran into serious financial difficulties. During the property boom, the 225-acre restort was valued at over €20 million.
Colliers International and Hume Auctioneers are the agents operating the sale for McStay Luby. The adjoining five-star Heritage Hotel, due to be sold separately by receivers KMPG, had also been given the price tag of over €20 million.
The 18-hole golf course opened in 2004 and was designed by golfing legend Seve Ballesteros. There is also an exercise track surrounding the course. In 2005, a separate thatch bar and bistro were also added.
The 5 star hotel has 85 bedrooms,a clubhouse and a spa. On the first floor there is the Seve Suite, which includes another bar, dining-room, kitchen and conferencing facilities for 150 guests.
