The Heritage, in Co. Laois, has appointed Jack Fitzsimons as its director of sales and marketing.
Fitzsimons has extensive experience in the hospitality sector, from food and beverage to front office, guest relations, and, more recently, sales and marketing.
He also received management training at the Dorchester, in London.
The graduate of DIT (now TUD) Cathal Brugha Street started in the hospitality sector at a young age, inspired by his grandfather, who was a hotelier.
Fitzsimons fondly remembers spending summers working at his grandfather’s hotel in West Cork, where he first fell in love with the industry, when he was just 16.
In June, the Heritage was awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2023.
It was rated as one of the top 25 hotels in Ireland for the second year running.
“I am delighted the Heritage has achieved this fantastic award, and I am thrilled for the team who work so hard to ensure our guests have an enjoyable stay with us,” said Paul Beehan, general manager.
Paul Beehan, a 38-year-old hotelier from the Curragh, in Kildare, became general manager of the Heritage over the summer.
Beehan is a graduate of the Shannon College of Hotel Management and has over 25 years in the hospitality industry.
Beehan began his management career in the Morrison Hotel, where he completed his training.
He has worked in the Lausanne Palace, in Switzerland, the Westbury Hotel, the Soho Hotel, in London, and the Newpark Hotel, in Kilkenny.
In his role, Beehan is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring guests’ satisfaction, and leading his team.
