Today CBRE confirmed that one of Kilkenny’s best known and most successful modern hotels – the Kilkenny River Court Hotel – has been sold. The purchasers are the well known developers and hotel owners, the Wexford based William Neville & Company, who also own the Royal Marine in Dun Laoghaire and the Riverside Hotel in Enniscorthy.
While no final sale price has been confirmed, it is believed that the hotel traded at over €9million, well ahead of the market’s original expectations on price
The Kilkenny River Court Hotel went on the market last October and immediately attracted exceptionally strong interest from many potential investors, both within Ireland and abroad.
"With longstanding barriers to entry to the Kilkenny city centre hotel market, this sale captured the attention of investors as it offered a unique opportunity to immediately establish a very strong foothold in the upper end of the lucrative Kilkenny hotel market.," CBRE said.
The Kilkenny River Court Hotel was built from new and opened for business in June 1999 and since then has established itself as one of the most successful and profitable hotel operations in Ireland. Facilities include 90 well appointed en-suite bedrooms and suites – many with stunning Castle views - Riverside Restaurant, Bar and idyllic outdoor Terrace area facing Kilkenny Castle, extensive Wedding/Conference/Banqueting Suites and a modern Leisure Centre with 17 metre heated indoor pool, Jacuzzi, Steam room, Gym and Spa facilities.
