British shopping centre developer Intu has announced plans to invest £50 million in Lisburn's Sprucefield Retail Park to develop an 80-bedroom hotel and new eateries on the site, as well as additional shops and improvements in landscaping.

In a statement shared by The Belfast Telegraph, Intu development director Martin Breeden asserted, "we want to transform Sprucefield Park and complement Lisburn city centre by bringing new shops, new places to eat and a hotel with at least 80 bedrooms, as well as landscaping improvements, to create an exciting place to shop, eat and relax."

Outlets at Sprucefield Park currently include Sainsbury's, Next Home and a Toys R Us store that is set to close in the near future.
