Lough Eske Castle Receives Quality Employer Award At Irish Hotels Federation Conference

Lough Eske Castle, a Solís Hotel & Spa, has been awarded the Quality Employer Awards under the Medium Hotels category at the Irish Hotels Federation annual conference 2017.

The hotel, which opened in 2007 and will be celebrating its tenth anniversary later this year, has recently won other awards such as Ulster Spa of the Year by Irish Tatler and Ulster Venue of the Year by WeddingsOnline.ie.

Managed by Solís Hotels & Resorts and owned by Harcourt Developments, Lough Eske Castle is Donegal’s only five-star hotel and employs 170 staff, mainly from the local area. Part of the interview process at Lough Eske includes a psychometric test, the results of which inform the decisions about who will make the best staff.

The Quality Employers Awards 2017 celebrates standards of excellence in human resource management across Ireland’s hotels and guesthouse sector.  The awards, which were presented by Minister of State for Tourism & Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, recognises hotels and guesthouses that develop employees in line with the Quality Employer Programme.

Catherine Monahan, director of human resources at Lough Eske Castle commented: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award and it makes it so much more special on our 10-year anniversary. We believe that hiring talented employees, investing in them, recognising them and empowering them within an environment of belonging and purpose will ensure our employees are motivated and engaged.  Our employees truly are our competitive edge and therefore it is imperative that we view them as our greatest asset.”
