Luttrellstown Castle Named Europe’s Leading Luxury Wedding Resort

Luttrellstown Castle is celebrating after being named Europe’s Leading Luxury Wedding Resort 2023 at the World Travel Awards, which took place last weekend in the Sheraton Batumi, in Georgia.

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993, to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

The awards attract thousands of entries each year and are regarded by many as the travel industry’s barometer.

Fifteenth-Century Castle

Luttrellstown Castle is situated on 567 acres of private parkland, which includes a fifteenth-century castle.

The castle can accommodate weddings and celebrations of up to 180 people, and it has 20 bespoke bedrooms, accommodating approximately 50 people.

The resort is also famous for its 18-hole championship golf course and its restaurant, Rugged Lane, a 55-seater modern take on fine dining.

Refurbishment

In recent years, Luttrellstown completed a three-year multimillion-euro refurbishment, which included the reinstatement and redesign of eight bedrooms at the resort.

Additionally, some of the antique furniture that was original to the castle was reinstated and some of the existing art pieces were reframed.

The phased refurbishment of the resort was undertaken by the head of Ventura Design, Arlene McIntyre.

‘Wonderful Accolade’

“We are truly delighted to win this award – it’s a wonderful accolade for us,” said Ivan King, Luttrellstown Castle Resort CEO.

“It was a hotly contested category, so it’s even more rewarding to know we won.

“It’s always a team effort, so a big thank-you to all our colleagues and thanks to everyone who voted for us.”
