The Courtenay Lodge Hotel, in Newcastle West, Limerick, has just been sold and is to undergo a refurbishment.
According to the Limerick Leader, the new owner Jim Long is planning to re-open the hotel in four months.
The 39-bedroom hotel closed in October resulting in the loss of over 40 jobs.
Long is believed to have bought the hotel for just under €600,000.
Long is now planing a four month refurbishment which will initially include a new colour design and new carpets for the newer part of the hotel. More substantial work may need to be done to the older part of the building which houses the function room.
Long wants to provide good quality accommodation, a high-end dining room, as well as bar-food, and develop facilities for weddings and functions. However, he has yet to decide whether the hotel will be renamed.
