Northern Ireland's Hotel Room Stock Soars With Opening Of AC Marriott Belfast

According to the Northern Ireland Hotel Federation (NIHF), upon the opening of Belfast's AC Marriott Hotel this month, Northern Ireland's hotel room stock will rise to 8,577, with the number of hotel rooms available in Northern Ireland having risen 91% since 1998.

Commenting on the hotel market in Northern Ireland, NIHF chief executive Janice Gault said, "Last year was strong with consolidation in occupancy, growth in room rates and good trading conditions.

"We had a number of new openings and expansions over the course of 2017 and this expansion is set to ramp up in 2018 with two new properties already opened in the first quarter.

"We have had a reasonable start to the year with reports suggesting that Easter has held up well."

Other hotel openings scheduled for Northern Ireland in 2018 include the 300-bedroom Grand Central Hotel on Belfast's Bedford Street in June and the 91-bedroom easyHotel off of Belfast's Howard Street.
