Signature Living Takes Next Step In Development of Belfast's George Best Hotel

Following the announcement in June that Signature Living will be opening the George Best hotel, several of Best's friends and relatives have donated items and memorabilia associated with the sports star to be displayed at the proposed property.

The donations were made at a launch event at the Scottish Mutual Building and included a signed shirt, a silver Northern Ireland cap and a number of European Cup replicas, reports newsletter.co.uk.

Members of the Best family as well as Belfast Lord Mayor Nuala McAllister and Signature Living chairman Lawrence Kenwright were all in attendance at the event.

Commenting on the event's significance, Kenwright asserted: "This is truly an exciting day for us as we receive these pieces of memorabilia that will form the beginning of a George Best collection at the hotel. This marks the next step in our journey to bring George and his genius to life within the hotel."

Kenwright added that he hopes to have the venue open by June of 2018, stating: "With record occupancy rates in Belfast of 83.5% last year, we remain confident that Belfast is the perfect location for continued investment from Signature Living."
