The closing date for entering the Irish leg of the World Class Bartender of the Year competition is Friday March 30, 2018.
Since its launch in 2009, Diageo Reserve’s World Class Bartender of the Year competition has supported, educated and inspired over 250,000 bartenders in over 60 countries through its training and advocacy programme. The World Class Bartender of the Year Competition brings together the best bartending talent from around the globe to decide who will be crowned the world’s best bartender.
The 2018 Competition asks bartenders to submit one cocktail. The theme is centred on creativity and pushing the boundaries. There are only two rules:
1) At least 30ml of any World Class brand spirit must be used.
2) Bartenders must incorporate elements from both World Class studio training modules:
- Heat of the Moment
- The Resourceful Bartender
The resulting drink creation must therefore use a culinary technique and involve an element of sustainability or resourcefulness.
To enter, bartenders are invited to log on to www.theworldclassclub.com to review full challenge details and submit their entry.
In bar judging of the top 12 entries will take place throughout April. Six bartenders will be selected to go through to the World Class semi-finals in Dublin on May 7. The World Class Ireland final will take place in Dublin on June 19. The World Class Ireland winner will then travel to the Global Final in Berlin in September 2018.
