Two well known pubs in Drumcondra, Dublin are up for sale. Both Quinn's and The Cat & Cage are being sold by CBRE. The pubs were once part of Quinn International Property Management, one of Sean Quinn's companies.
Quinn's occupies around 642 square metres and is a particularly popular spot on Croke Park match days and concert nights. It is also poular with students. The premises occupies three stories over a basement and includes a substantial smoking area. It has an excellent location at the intersection of Drumcondra Road and Clonliffe Road and enjoys a substantial turnover. The premises is on the market for offers over €1.6 million.
The Cat & Cage is also a highly successful establishment which is popular among locals and students alike. It is situated on a busy main road and consists of a bar, lounge and function room. The pub is also in close proximity to St. Patrick's teacher training college. The sellers are looking for offers over €650,000 for this property.
However, the sales may encounter problems as the Quinn family are seeking to overturn what they are calling Anglo Irish Bank's "illegal takeover" of their companies and the family has said that “The sale of any Quinn companies or company assets, which would compound the illegality, will result in the family vigorously pursuing the return of those assets."
