FSAI Serves Three Orders in October

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has handed out two closure orders and one prohibition order in October.

The Curry Leaf, an Indian restaurant in Athy Co. Kildare and The Cresecent View Restaurant in Wexford both received closure orders from health inspectors.

A closure order is issued if, in the opinion of the authorised officer, there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health at/or in the food premises.

A prohibition order was served to Ina’s Kitchen Desserts in Walkinstown, Dublin in relation to its chilled strawberry crumble mousse desserts. A prohibition order means the company must cease the sale of a particular product, temporarily or permanently.

FSAI chief executive Pamela Byrne said food businesses need to be vigilant and “must recognise that the legal onus is on them to make sure that the food they sell or serve is safe to eat."
