Nando's Booming In Ireland

Nando's, the fast food chain specialising in spicy chicken, is booming in Ireland.

The Irish operation made €2.8 million in the year to 23 February, up from €1.5 million the previous year. Revenues leaped by 34 per cent to €15.5 million.

It opened its 11th restaurant in Ireland this year in Dún Laoghaire. The company as it stands employs 420 people in the country, though it aims to open more outlets.

Its Irish arm did not begin as auspiciously however, as initial losses had to be atoned for.

It paid €772,000 to use the Nando's brand based on a 5-per-cent charge on net revenues.
