Top Chef Noel McMeel Launches New Book

Noel McMeel, executive head chef at Lough Erne Resort in Fermanagh, has just launched his much-anticipated new book: ‘Irish Pantry: Traditional Breads, Preserves and Goodies to Feed the Ones You Love’.

McMeel, who cooked for the world's leaders at the recently-held G8 summit at his resort, has fast become a big name in the industry. Indeed Arlene Foster, Northern Ireland's minister for enterprise and trade, was full of praise for Noel at the launch held on Belfast last week.

“Our wonderful food tells a story of Northern Ireland’s culture, heritage, people and landscape," said Foster. "Noel’s recipes are steeped in nostalgia and celebrate a culture of eating home-grown produce of great quality. As Noel’s book demonstrates, Northern Ireland food is about so much more than the mouth watering ‘Ulster fry’. Our strength is in our regionally produced, distinctive and provenance-based local food produce.”

The event was sponsored by Bunzl McLaughlin, one of Ireland's leading non-food catering suppliers for the hospitality industry. Alastair McLaughlin, speaking on behalf of the company, said: “We are delighted to be associated with the launch of Noel McMeel’s wonderful book... We are keen to support local talent like his that can inspire us within the industry, and on the world stage.”
