Unicorn Restaurant Building To Sell for €2.5 Million

The building that used to be the location of celebrity restaurant, Unicorn, is due to be sold by Dublin City Council for €2.5 million.

Unicorn, a well-known and fashionable restaurant in Dublin that had been visited by celebrities such as Bono and former US president Bill Clinton, has been relocated from 13A Merrion row to 12B Merrion Court.

The move comes on the back of ongoing tension between restaurateurs Georgio Casari and Jeff Strokes.

The council publicly advertised its intention to dispense of the 267-square-metre site, and 21 offers were submitted for the property, which is situated in a prime location in the centre of Dublin.

Following this, the two highest bidders were interviewed, with an assessment panel selecting Manipol as the preferred bidder.

The company is now required to pay a deposit of 20% on the €2.5 million total, subject to the approval of the council, once the sale is submitted to it at a meeting on October 6.

The council originally acquired the property in 1950 from JE Mills.
