The awards are open to the Island of Ireland’s young chefs and waiters of 28 years and younger, working in the hospitality sector.
The winning young chef and waiter will go on to represent Ireland at the World YCYW Awards in Monaco on the 23 – 24 of November 2023.
The Young Chef Young Waiter Awards were established in 1979 and launched internationally in 2019 as a global competition open to all young professional waiters and chefs from any background, promoting hospitality as a career of choice, a profession, and a vocation.
“We take pride in flying the flag for the hospitality industry and what better way than with the patronage of the Young Chef Young Waiter Ireland Awards 2023," said Dónal Cox, general manager of Lough Eske Castle.
"Lough Eske Castle along with its owners, Harcourt Developments strive to inspire and motivate aspiring culinary and hospitality professionals, providing the confidence and encouragement they need to excel in their careers.”
Harcourt Developments is one of Ireland’s largest privately-owned property companies with over 1500 employees and properties across Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK, and Antigua.
Gordon Smyth, the award-winning group executive chef at Harcourt Developments, has been named as one of the judges on the panel for the YCYW Awards 2023.
“I am delighted to be part of this exceptional competition, and given the opportunity to support and nurture our fellow culinary and hospitality colleagues in forging their career in this fast paced and ever-changing industry,” said Smyth.
