Complaints Made Over New Starbucks on Drury Street in Dublin

There have been several complaints sent to Dublin City Council over a new Starbucks restaurant that has opened on Drury Street in the south inner city.

The Journal reports that Councillor Mannix Flynn lodged objections last week about the signage outside the building and the change of use of the outlet.

Flynn said that he would have preferred if there was prior consultation with locals before work on the building was started, while Dublin City Council said that it is currently investigating the Starbucks in question on the back of the complaints.

"Dublin City Council can confirm that this operation is under investigation following complaints received about signage and change of use of the building” the statement reads.

Flynn added that he believes there are too many big brand, multinational outlets in an area can have a negative effect on local, independent cafes and outlets in the city.
