Bewley's Barista Ranked Sixth In World Barista Championship Finals

Bewley's barista Wojciech Tysler has been ranked sixth in the World Barista Championship Finals.

Details

Bewley's stated, "Bewley's Barista and 2019 Irish Barista Champion, Wojciech Tysler, was today recognised as the 6th best barista in the world at the World Barista Championships in Milan, Italy. The World Barista Championship is the preeminent international coffee competition produced annually by World Coffee Events (WCE).

Representing Ireland for the second time in the World Barista Championships, Wojciech competed against more than 50 country champions from all around the world to get to today's finals in Milan. A panel of WCE certified international judges evaluated each performance on the taste of the beverages served, cleanliness, creativity, technical skill, and overall presentation. The final event saw the top baristas from Colombia, Australia, Switzerland, The US, Kenya and Ireland compete in 15-minute sessions where they had to prepare four espressos, four milk drinks and four original signature drinks to exacting standards. The ever-popular signature beverage allows the baristas to stretch their imagination and the judges' palates to incorporate a wealth of coffee knowledge into an expression of their individual tastes and experiences. In this year's final, Wojciech's signature beverage was his innovative Fruity Coffee IPA, which melded the flavours of passion fruit, Galia melon, pink grapefruit and pink peppercorn flavours with six shots of espresso to create a truly unique coffee expression inspired by Wojciech’s favourite tropical IPA craft beer."

Bewley's Managing Director Statement

As an Irish champion, we knew it was only a matter of time until the rest of the world recognised Wojciech's talents, and his superb result in the biggest barista competition in the world is a reflection of his years of effort and progression towards becoming one of the very best in the business.

"Just like Wojciech, at Bewley's we take coffee very seriously. Quality and training have long been a key focus in our history and heritage. The fact that we have produced one of the world’s greatest baristas validates all the time, effort and investment we put into helping our customers and staff to be the best they can be, which results in consumers enjoying a world-class Bewley's coffee experience. We look forward to welcoming Wojciech home and celebrating with him in style."
