Campari And Intercos Partner To Produce Alcohol-Based Sanitiser

Drinks group Campari and cosmetic products maker Intercos Group have joined forces to produce hydro-alcoholic gel hand cleaners for healthcare workers in Italy's Lombardy region, the two companies have announced.

Lombardy, where Campari has its headquarters, has been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak.

The alcohol donated by Campari will be transformed and bottled by Intercos Group, the two groups said in a statement, and added that they will deliver the gel sanitisers where they are most urgently needed.

"Aware of sanitising gel shortage in hospitals and in all sanitary facilities, we have decided to donate an amount of pure alcohol, originally intended for our production lines," Campari CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz said.

Production started on Thursday April 2 and the first batch will consist of 15,000 hand sanitiser bottles.

Other Donations

In recent weeks, Campari donated €1 million to a hospital in Lombardy, and the company has made $1 million available to Another Round Another Rally, which is a non-profit organisation that raises emergency funds for hospitality workers in the United States.
