Porterhouse Founder Opens Dingle Distillery

Porterhouse founder Oliver Hughes has teamed up with distiller John McDougall to open a new whiskey distillery in Dingle, Co Kerry. The Dingle Distillery, is located at the Old Mill in the town, and is to commence distilling in the next few weeks. The distillery will produce a triple-distilled pot still single malt, aged for five years, which will be branded Dingle Green and Dingle Gold. McDougall, a Scotch expert, who will act as consultant distiller for the operation, hailed the Dingle “microclimate, which will add to the nuances of the whiskey when it’s maturing particularly. Triple distillation is practiced in some of the lowland malt distilleries in Scotland, but it has the advantage to present the consumer with a gentle, smooth and velvety whiskey.”

The distillery will also produce a premium gin ‘Dingle Original Gin’ and a vodka, ‘Dingle Distillery Vodka’, both of which will be available at the six Porterhouse pubs in Ireland, the UK and New York, as well as select export markets.
