Sliabh Liag Distillers Hopes To Raise €1.5m For New Distillery

Co. Donegal's Sliabh Liag Distillers is hoping to raise €1.5 million to go towards the development of a new distillery in Ardara.

Sliabh Liag Distillers was granted planning permission to build a new distillery and visitor centre in Ardara in August of 2019, and the Carrick-based gin and whiskey company is planning to launch a crowdfunding round towards the end of this month.

"Good Momentum In The Business"

The Irish Independent quotes Sliabh Liag Distillers co-founder James Doherty as saying, "We are really positive about the funding round. We have really good momentum in the business. If you look at the backers we have already from the drinks industry, we are in a great place, notwithstanding the turmoil the world is in right now."

The company's investors include former SAB Miller employees John Davidson and Dominic De Lorenzo.

The planned Ardara distillery could reportedly create up to 40 new jobs.
