Starbucks to Sell Alcohol in UK Stores

US coffee giant Starbucks has announced that it will begin selling wine and beer in UK stores now, as part of its "evenings" programme.

The move will see Starbucks offer a selection of wines (served in stemless, plastic cups) as well as craft beers in the evening times, in an attempt to lure customers away from pubs.

The newly renovated Stansted Airport store will be the first outlet in the UK host Starbucks Evevnings, with more planned for across the UK.

The concept has already proved popular in the US, with 30 stores operating the service there.

As well as beer and wine, Starbucks Evening will also offer a selection of food and snacks, including chorizo and prawn skewers with chili ketchup, truffle mac and cheese and braised British beef.

There are no reports as to whether the programme will be extended to Ireland.
