Temple Bar Pub Parent Company Refused Permission To Open New Whiskey Store

The parent company of Dublin's Temple Bar pub, Temple Inns Ltd, has been denied planning permission to open a new whiskey store.

An Over-Concentration Of Licensed Premises

The planned store would have been called Temple Bar Whiskey Emporium, and would have been located closed to The Temple Bar pub. However, Dublin City Council has refused to grant planning permission for the proposed store, saying that it would add to an over-concentration of licensed premises in the immediate area.

No Compelling Case

The council also pointed out that Temple Inns Ltd already operates a whiskey store in the area, and stated that no compelling case has been made for a new whiskey store, as well as saying that the proposed store "would seriously injure the amenities of the area", as reported by The Irish Independent.
