Get Ready For Reopening With Mobile Ordering

It would be an understatement to say that restaurants have had to come up with and seek out alternative solutions over the past year. Many eateries have introduced delivery, click & collect, at-home meal kits and more. If anything, the pandemic has proven just how resilient hospitality can be. "Outdoor activities will be the theme of summer" and we'll likely see this continue into the autumn as our much-missed hospitality offers the famous céad míle fáilte welcome back to their customers with open arms.

Mobile ordering is a handy solution when it comes to managing the volume of new, unique orders coming in, and provides businesses with a plethora of new opportunities. This is particularly true as we're seeing the phased reopening implemented with outdoor hospitality being the first to open their doors.

Goodeats by Goodtill is a new intuitive mobile ordering platform supported by customers' web browsers (with no need to download any new apps), aimed at helping foodservice businesses cut queues, speed up service and effectively limit any unnecessary customer-staff interaction. Working with minimal staff and restricted capacity means Irish businesses have to do more with less.

When restaurants reopen, there will have to be certain safety measures in place much like we had last year. With Goodeats, the platform can pivot to accept table ordering; easily implemented and accessible, customers will be able to stay seated without needing to interact directly with staff other than when the food is brought. Not only does this make things extra safe, but it also ensures that the whole ordering experience is more convenient and appealing to potential clientele. For customers, it's as simple as flipping open their camera, scanning the QR code and ordering their dish!

Goodtill's QR code feature allows staff to designate either a collection point, a table number when completing a click & collect, room service order, or a table drop-off, and goes a long way in championing a COVID-secure service. As such, there'll be no need to replace contaminated menus while replacing a whole host of processes with sheer automation.

Goodeats integrates with Goodtill's POS system but can run alone as a click & collection system. All that is needed is an iPad or any other web hosting device including android devices, tablets or a laptop equipped with wifi to accept and fulfil orders. The many customers that already use their slick iPad POS can manage these orders through their main till system, keeping everything in one place for a faster and smoother order fulfilment process.

Hospitality owners may also be thinking of setting up a self service counter to boost out-of-house orders as customers flock to the parks and beaches. Goodtill can help set up an efficient order and collection counter to accommodate such needs.

And that's not all. Goodeats is also easily integrated with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Staff will be able to view customer orders from both platforms via a single tablet and react to incoming orders in real-time, minimising human error and giving staff the ability to manage these orders alongside orders taken through the existing POS. This makes for a more efficient kitchen, being able to manage stock levels, access greater reporting on combined sales and manage incoming orders through a single platform solution.

Hotels, lodges and B&Bs will also have to implement their very own bespoke solutions for a more efficient dining experience. This means offering customers in-room ordering as well as allowing for pre-orders within designated time slots; this will be crucial in ensuring guests have a safer, quicker and more comfortable checkout experience during their stay.

The benefits don't end there. Goodtill also integrates with a range of payment providers to offer contactless payments, including giants like SumUpZettle, Square and more.

As lockdown is being lifted and it is once again safe to have people fill the streets without restriction, it's anticipated that contactless payments and online ordering will become a government requirement. Those businesses that have developed a reliable mobile ordering service will be in a great position to continue to expand and address any safety concerns moving forward.
