Line-Up Revealed For Fáilte Ireland's 'Taste the Island' Programme

The line-up has been revealed for Fáilte Ireland's "Taste the Island" programme.

The "Taste the Island" programme involves a 12 week celebration of Ireland's seasonal ingredients, tastes and experiences that will unfold across September, October and November of this year.

Among the events that will be happening during the three month celebration are a Harvest Moon Supper at Hook Lighthouse in Co. Wexford; a feast at the foot of Mount Errigal in Co. Donegal; the Galway International Seafood and Oyster Festival; wild food foraging experiences; oyster shucking experiences; and Dublin distillery trails.

The "Taste the Island" initiative was developed by Fáilte Ireland in collaboration with Tourism Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland and a range of stakeholders.

Confident That The Programme Will Have A Positive Impact

Minister for tourism and sport Brendan Griffin stated, "This is one of the first all-island tourism initiatives to take place in recent years, and I am confident that the collaboration between Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland and Tourism Ireland will ensure that 'Taste the Island' has a positive impact on Ireland's reputation for providing unique and unforgettable food and drink experiences across the island of Ireland."

The "Taste the Island" line-up will feature over 600 unique food trails, festivals and dining experiences which will take place across the island and have been developed by Irish chefs, producers and craftspeople.

"Taste the Island" will begin with the "A Taste of West Cork" festival on September 6.
