£15m Redevelopment Of Belfast's Victoria Terminal 2 Ferry Terminal Ramp Completed

Civil engineering firm Graham has completed a £15 million redevelopment of Belfast's Victoria Terminal 2 (VT2) ferry terminal ramp, which services the Belfast to Birkenhead ferry route.

As reported by The Irish News, the existing berth has been upgraded to make it suitable for Stena Line's new E-Flexer series vessels.

The redevelopment project involved installing a new double deck linkspan that allows vehicles to be loaded or discharged simultaneously over two decks of E-Flexer ferries.

Graham's project team also built new berthing infrastructure including dolphins, walkways and an automatic mooring system, as well as a new approach ramp to the linkspan's upper deck.

The project was part of Belfast Harbour's long-term investment strategy in port infrastructure, and it future-proofs Belfast's ferry facilities.

"Major Benefits"

The Irish News quotes Graham contracts manager Thomas Craven as saying, "This important infrastructure project for Northern Ireland will unlock further potential for freight capacity between Belfast and Liverpool.

"The facilities will provide major benefits to Northern Ireland's importers and exporters, improving the customer experience as well as enhancing capacity on the route."
