£4m Investment Into Northern Ireland Hospitality Businesses

A total of £4 million is being invested into three top hospitality businesses in the Belfast and Bangor areas.

Iconic Belfast bar and restaurant The Northern Whig (pictured) and Madison's Hotel in Botanic Avenue are to undergo major revamps under their new owners, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

Also, the Ava Bar in Bangor, Co. Down is set for a £350,000 revamp under its new owners, publicans Andrew and Johnny Gedge. Andrew Gedge said he hopes to double the workforce at the Ava by increasing the volume to 80 tables.

The Northern Whig's new owners Horatio Group plan to invest £300,000 into the venue after purchasing it for around £1.7 million recently. A further 15 full and part-time jobs will be created as a result of the investment.

Madison's manager Michael Stewart unveiled the plans for the hotel after it was bought for a reported £1.75 million. "“Everything is going to change about Madison’s, including possibly the name. This is a major investment from top to bottom. The bedrooms will be completely overhauled as well as the club and the restaurant.”
