Aer Lingus Group Plc, the Irish airline part-owned by Ryanair Holdings Plc, said former TNT Express NV executive Bernard Bot will take over as chief financial officer later this year.
Bot, a Dutch national, will replace Andrew Macfarlane on September 1, the Dublin-based carrier said in a statement today. Aer Lingus also appointed Federico Balzola as its chief people and change officer.
Aer Lingus cut its full-year forecast in June after a strike and threat of further labour unrest hurt bookings. A work-assignment dispute with employees led to a walkout on May 30, potentially disrupting chief executive officer Christoph Mueller’s plan to gain a bigger share of the trans-Atlantic market. Unions agreed late yesterday to defer a further two days of strikes to consider an interim recommendation from the labour court.
Bot joined delivery service TNT in 2005 from consulting company McKinsey & Co., where he spent 13 years. He became interim CFO of Hoofddorp, Netherlands-based TNT in August 2010, taking the job on a permanent basis in 2011. He told the company in April that he wouldn’t seek an extension to his contract.
