Derry Showcased At Tourism Ireland Event In New York

The Walled City of Derry was showcased in New York at an event organised by Tourism Ireland, according to a statement published on Tourism Ireland's website.

Visit Derry representatives travelled to New York with tourism partners from the Bishop's Gate Hotel, City Hotel and Walled City Brewery to promote Derry, according to the statement published on TourismIreland.com, which also noted that guests included New York-based travel and lifestyle journalists, tour operators and meetings organisers, and that the event was timed to coincide with the New York stopover of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, and provided an opportunity to highlight the Foyle Maritime Festival, which returns next month and will welcome the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race once again.

Statement By Tourism Ireland's Head Of North America

The statement published on TourismIreland.com included a statement from Tourism Ireland's head of North America, Alison Metcalfe, that said, "Tourism Ireland was delighted to support this showcase of Londonderry, reminding our media and travel trade guests about the many great reasons for US travellers to visit, including the return of the Clipper Race this summer. Events and festivals are an important part of our overall tourism offering and a key message in our promotions. We are rolling out our Green Button campaign in the United States right now - urging travellers to 'press the Green Button' and book their trip to Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland. Our message is that Northern Ireland is open for business again and we cannot wait to welcome back visitors from the United States."
