Fáilte Ireland Cancels Meitheal 2020

Following a review of the number of buyers attending Meitheal 2020 and the available appointments for industry representatives to engage with these buyers, Fáilte Ireland has decided to cancel Meitheal 2020.

Organised by Fáilte Ireland, Meitheal is an annual event that enables representatives of the Irish tourism industry to meet directly with influential overseas buyers from around the world.

"The Only Realistic Decision"

Fáilte Ireland stated, "During these uncertain times, we have been monitoring the challenges around the COVID-19 virus and preparing to make a decision on health grounds over the coming days. However, with a significant number of available appointments now cancelled due to buyer cancellations and further cancellations extremely likely in the coming days, the only realistic decision open to us is to cancel Meitheal 2020. We believe that it is better to make a definitive decision now to give all our partners, particularly those travelling from overseas, a minimum of two weeks' notice of cancellation to make the necessary travel cancellations and to protect long term relationships.

"We will seek to provide additional virtual networking opportunities over the coming weeks, and we plan to have an Ireland showcase event in the autumn.

"Full Irish industry refunds on Meitheal 2020 registration fees will issue to industry over the coming weeks."
