FEBVREUARY Closes With Top Quality Line-Up

The final week of FEBVREUARY, a month of wine discovery hosted by Febvre Wines, kicked off with Richard Halstead, COO of Wine Intelligence UK, presenting the top line Global Consumer Trends Report recently published following research by Wine Intelligence and their associates around the world.

On Wednesday, Herve Robert from one of the top Rhone wineries - Delas Freres - joined the restaurant and hotel trade for a tasting and lunch in Zuni, Kilkenny, with each course matched with Deutz and Delas wines. Highlights included the Crozes Hermitage and St Joseph Les Challeys.

That evening Herve joined Chester Osborn, chief winemaker at d’Arenberg in a live Skype ’Rhone Style’ tasting from McLaren Vale in Australia for a fascinating tasting. Guests tasted seven of the d’Arenberg wines side by side with seven of the Delas Wines.  The styles of the Rhone wines were very different when compared to those from the McLaren Vale and Herve and Chester explained the differences in terroir, climate and winemaking.

Isabel Monteiro from Warre’s Port hosted a vertical from the Warre’s Quinta da Cavadinha estate.  The tasting included the following vintages from  1992, 1998, 2001, 2005, 2010, 2012.  The stand out vintage of the day was the 1998.

FEBVREUARY draws to a close on 29 Monday when Febvre will be showing their range of Cakebread, Benziger, Sequoia Grove and Joseph Phelps Freestone at the Wines of California Tasting in the Merrion Hotel.
