With over 400,000 people expected to attend this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Drogheda, Fáilte Ireland has teamed up with businesses across the town to make sure visitors to the event experience top-quality customer service.
Over 100 representatives from 46 local businesses have taken part in special Fáilte Ireland workshops, designed to help those on the front line to identify customers’ needs and expectations, increase customer satisfaction, as well as creating a sense of team spirit around the Fleadh Cheoil.
Head of Ireland’s Ancient East at Fáilte Ireland, Jenny De Saulles, said, “Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is a brilliant opportunity for local businesses in Drogheda and Louth to showcase what Ireland’s Ancient East has to offer. Getting visitors of this scale into the town is really invaluable and we’re expecting the festival to generate millions for the local economy – the real win is showcasing the best of the area and providing top customer service which leaves visitors with a really memorable experience, making them more likely to make a return visit. That’s why, at Fáilte Ireland, we’re working with everyone from hotels and transport services to volunteers and drink and food providers to ensure that visitors to Drogheda during the Fleadh Ceoil are left with numerous reasons to return.”
The workshops, which took place in the Westcourt Hotel Drogheda, were delivered in partnership with Boyne Valley Tourism and the Fleadh Charter and Legacy Committee. They were centred on Fáilte Ireland’s Customer Service Excellence Charter, which aims to act as an assurance to visitors coming to Drogheda for the event that local businesses in the area are committed to ensuring they enjoy a comfortable, safe, informative and memorable experience, which represents good value for money.
Fáilte Ireland is a key supporter of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, and has provided funding through its Festivals programme.
