Irish Airports See 5.4% Surge In Passenger Numbers In Q3

Bumper-year 2017 continued during the third quarter for Irish airports, thanks to a 5.4% increase in passenger numbers.

Figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on 11 December show that 10.5 million passengers passed through the main Irish airports between July and September of this year.

While passenger numbers increased in the three months at Cork and Dublin Airports, they fell in Shannon, Knock and Kerry, when compared to the same three months last year, reports RTE.ie.

Some 84.5% of all air passengers carried in the third quarter of 2017 went through Dublin Airport, with the CSO highlighting that in the nine months to September, a total of 26.6 million passengers travelled through the main Irish airports – up 5.3% on the same time last year.

A total of 73,364 flights were handled by Ireland’s main airports during the third quarter.
