Northern Ireland's Golf Offering Showcased To Swedish Writers

Top Swedish golf writers – all members of the Swedish Golf Writers’ Association – have been visiting Northern Ireland this week as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI. Their publications have a combined audience of over 430,000 readers, or potential golf holidaymakers for Northern Ireland.

During their visit, they had the opportunity to test their golfing skills at Royal County Down, Ardglass Golf Club, Portstewart Golf Club and Royal Portrush.

Promoting Golf Tourism

Promoting golf in Northern Ireland is a focus for Tourism Ireland in Sweden and in other golf markets around the world. Tourism Ireland is taking every opportunity to highlight the fact that Royal Portrush will host The Open in 2019, which will provide a platform to place Northern Ireland golf in the global spotlight once again.

Julie McLaughlin, Tourism Ireland’s manager for the Nordic Region, said, “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential golf writers to visit Northern Ireland, to experience some of our top courses for themselves and to have the chance to hear all about the plans for The Open in 2019 at Royal Portrush.

“Tourism Ireland has a busy programme of promotions under way throughout 2018, which includes highlighting our world-class golf and encouraging more people to consider a golfing holiday in Northern Ireland. Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and we are working hard to drive home the message that a golfing holiday in Northern Ireland is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of our world-class courses and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers.”
