Republic Business Tourism Booming In 2018

New figures from Fáilte Ireland have revealed that business tourism was worth €162 million to the Republic during the first three quarters of 2018 - a figure that's higher than business tourism earnings for the whole of last year.

As reported by The Irish Times, more than 360 conferences hosting a combined total of over 117,000 delegates have taken place in Ireland in 2018 to date. Fáilte Ireland is now hoping to push these figures even higher after sending a team to the annual IMEX America exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events in Las Vegas this week.

Employment, Revenue And Future Growth

Speaking at IMEX America, Fáilte Ireland chief executive Paul Kelly said, "Tourism is a significant contributor to Ireland’s well-being, both socially and economically. It supports 240,000 jobs and also generates €7.2 billion in revenue and €1.7 billion in Exchequer earnings – the equivalent of over €1,000 for every household in Ireland.

"In the business tourism sector, we believe there’s huge potential for future growth and the business we’ve won so far this year, exceeding the total figure for 2017 already, is testament to that."
