Shannon Cruise Holidays Showcased To German Journalists

Travel journalists and influencers from Germany visited Ireland last week, cruising on the River Shannon as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and German cruising tour operator Le Boat.

The group included a YouTube cruise personality, a photographer and travel journalists, with a combined audience of approximately 4.8 million readers, or potential German holidaymakers for Ireland. They came to the country to find out more about cruising holidays on the Shannon and its tributaries, and to experience first-hand the scenery and the wealth of things to see and do in this part of Ireland.

They cruised from Carrick-on-Shannon to Athlone, stopping off in Dromod in Co. Leitrim, Tarmonbarry in Co. Roscommon and Lanesborough in Co. Longford. They visited Athlone Castle and Clonmacnoise and also enjoyed a golf lesson at Athlone Golf Club.

Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of travel journalists and influencers to visit Ireland,” said Zoë Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Central Europe. “Fact-finding visits like this are a really effective way for us to get positive exposure for cruising on the Shannon and for Ireland through the media in Germany, showcasing cruising holidays and the superb tourism experiences on offer in this part of Ireland to a huge audience of 4.8 million potential German holidaymakers.”
