Stena Line has expanded its service from Rosslare to Cherbourg, with the inaugural voyage of the Stena Vision.

Details

The Stena Vision, which has gone into operation alongside the Stena Horizon, increases frequency on the Rosslare to Cherbourg route to six departure days and 12 sailings per week, as well as significantly bolstering capacity.

Passengers were welcomed onboard with a complimentary glass of prosecco, while there were special gifts for the first freight and leisure guests. With the Stena Vision also containing 42 pet friendly cabins, there was also a special presentation to the first pet traveller.

The refurbished vessel can accommodate up to 1,300 passengers and has 485 cabins.

The Stena Vision also has a Pure Nordic Spa, offering saunas and Jacuzzis, as well as a variety of beauty treatments including manicures, pedicures, facials and massages.

Additionally, the ship includes a game zone and play area, and shopping options.

Statements

The Stena Vision's senior master, Seán Boyce, said he was proud to take charge of the cruise ferry for its inaugural voyage to Cherbourg.

He said, "After a busy period of getting everything in place and conducting extensive sea trials with Stena Vision, it was a special feeling to welcome passengers onboard for the first sailing.

"Now as the peak summer season approaches, we can offer our passengers unrivalled choice with a range of top-class facilities which means your holiday can start the moment you step onboard."

Stena Line's travel commercial manager, Irish Sea, Orla Noonan, said the inaugural voyage was a full sailing, and Stena Line's pet friendly policy was also proving popular with those onboard.

Noonan said, "Travel bookings are strong for the summer period and our pet-cabins have also been incredibly popular with almost 60% of them booked, but there is still some availability for the peak months and beyond."
