Swedish Royal Visit Expected To Provide Tourism Boost

Tourism Ireland has welcomed a visit to Ireland by the king and queen of Sweden this week, which the marketing body said represents a unique opportunity to convince potential holiday-makers in Sweden to visit Ireland during 2019.

Tourism Ireland is aiming to inspire Swedish residents to follow in the royal couple’s footsteps through extensive social media activity which will include sharing images of the royal couple at various Irish visitor attractions.

"A Wonderful Opportunity To Showcase Ireland"

Tourism Ireland’s manager for the Nordic Region, Aileen Hickey, commented, "This week’s visit by the king and queen of Sweden is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Ireland to a wide audience of prospective holiday-makers across Sweden. A number of Swedish journalists have travelled here to cover the visit, bringing the story to hundreds of thousands of people in Sweden and providing a truly unique opportunity to highlight Ireland as a wonderful holiday destination. Tourism Ireland will take every opportunity to exploit the tourism potential from the extensive publicity around the visit.

"In 2018, we welcomed almost 83,000 Swedish arrivals to Ireland. Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotions throughout 2019 to highlight the island of Ireland to Swedish and Nordic holiday-makers."
