Tourism Ireland Appoints Aidan Power As New Director Of Marketing

Tourism Ireland has announced the appointment of Aidan Power as its new director of marketing.

Power will be responsible for strategy and insights, driving forward the organisation’s marketing communications and creative and media strategy, as well as partnerships, in order to deliver on its ambitions to increase the value of overseas tourism to the island of Ireland.

‘Strong Track Record’

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Aidan Power to this key strategic position in our organisation, following an extensive competition with a strong international response,” said Alice Mansergh, Tourism Ireland’s chief executive designate.

“He brings a wealth of experience and a very strong track record of achievement to the role.

“He takes up this important post of director of marketing at an exciting time, as Tourism Ireland works to increase the value of overseas tourism to the island of Ireland, sustainably supporting economies, communities, and the environment.”

Background

Prior to joining Tourism Ireland, Power was director of marketing, communications and corporate affairs at KBC Bank Ireland. Before that, he worked at the EBS Building Society and Musgrave.

Power will take up the contract post at the end of February and be based in Tourism Ireland’s office in Dublin.

‘Targeted Programme’

In January, Tourism Ireland announced that it would roll out ‘an extensive and targeted programme of activity’, with a marketing budget of €70 million.

It plans to increase the overall economic value of overseas tourism to the island of Ireland, growing revenue by an average of 5.6% per year over the next six years, to 2030.

Additionally, the organisation aims to sustainably support the economies of communities across the island, growing revenue to regions outside of the peak season by an average of 6.5% per year to 2030.
