The two-day B2B tourism event was organised by Tourism Ireland to allow the tourism companies from Ireland as well as four tour operators based in Australia and New Zealand to connect with more than 100 Australian and New Zealand travel agents and tour operators as well as influential travel journalists.

Via an online system, Tourism Ireland facilitated a series of one-to-one, pre-scheduled video appointments. The virtual event also includes a series of webinars, which highlighted Ireland's luxury, outdoor and soft adventure offerings, as well as opportunities for travel for small groups. Attendees were entertained by short videos showcasing Ireland's food, music and dance, and featuring celebrity chef Kevin Dundon, the Shamrock Tenors and Riverdance.

Although travel from Australia and New Zealand is not possible at present, the aim of "Ireland Virtual Travel Expo" was to promote Ireland to the travel advisors who took part in the online event to position the country well for when the time is right for Ireland to welcome their clients once again.
