Tourism Ireland Seeks Extra Funding For Post-COVID-19 Crisis Advertising

Tourism Ireland has reportedly asked the government for a minimum of €20 million in extra funding in addition to its annual marketing budget of approximately €45 million to pay for international advertising when the COVID-19 crisis ends.

Tourism Ireland is planning to launch a major advertising blitz in the wake of the current coronavirus.

"Not A Write Off Just Yet"

The Irish Times quotes Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons as saying that 2020 "is not a write off just yet".

Gibbons stated, "In a best-case scenario, we might be able to see something from the summer months. There is still a lot left to win this year. In my experience, the bounceback from something like this will be quick when it arrives."

Gibbons declined to reveal the exact amount of funding that Tourism Ireland has sought from the government.
